How to help in India - AID India Appeal

There is still a need for volunteers here for different teams. There is also a similar need of volunteers who can spend a few days in Pondicherry/Cuddalore/Nagai/Kanyakumari, preferably those who can speak Tamil. There is also a need for doctors, paramedics and community health workers.

hello, my name is Derek and i am a medical student...i currently have until August until i start school and want to voluteer my knowledge of medicine and time to help out anywhere that i am needed in southeast asia. I am 24 years old and am very strong and have very good stamina. I can do any type of manual labor and would love to help in the rebuilding of the area. No task is too menial for me and i have volunteered medical services to haiti, a third world country with lacks of meds, nutrituous meals, and sufficient disease control. I cannot speak Tamil, but i learned haitian creole an amazing amount of haitian creole over only 6 days and now i write to my friends down there in their native tongues. So i am adept at learning new languages and i would be spending up to 8 months if the need is there. However, I cannot pay my way to SE Asia at this time but i am saving for the ticket...if i can get there sooner with aid funds, i know i can make that a great investment for an organization and for SE asians, too! send me an email at: daseib@yahoo.com
thanks and god bless,
derek

I would like to donate some money to an Indian Non Profit Organization, who is also tax deductable in USA. I am looking for an Tunami helping organization which would send most of the money to for relief work.

It was sad to findout the RedCross whom I have been giving is unable to spend all the money on relief, a good percentage goes for the executive travel and transportation from US to relief location.

Please suggest!

I've got some free months upcoming, and I can think of no finer way to spend them than helping folks in the wake of the worst natural disaster any of us are likely to live through. I should be free through the last half of February and most of March and would be willing to spent that time in afflicted areas. My qualifications follow:

I am a certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR), which means I am trained to deal with basic medical problems in the a "wilderness context." The wilderness context is defined as being two or more hours away from definitive medical care, a condition I suspect applies to many tsunami-affected areas. I am certified my Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA). WFR certification includes training in Basic Life Support (BLS), including Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

While I have not traveled to this region, I have spent some time in developing countries. I have traveled to Tanzania twice, most recently spending 65 days there with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).

Please contact me when you can. I would be happy to answer any questions. Have a wonderful day. I hope you find tons of good recruits, and I hope to hear from you soon.
