Looking to help Tsnami affected areas by volunteering up to 1 month. could leave Jan 16th, 2005 and willing to travel to any country affected. Resourceful in building shelter and/or coordinating efforts. Could raise funds to travel probably but any help appreciated. College educated, 26 years old, physically fit, and experienced in hands on type of work as well as project coordination/leadership roles. Also strong in crisis. Me and my friends are having a bake sale to raise money for the tsunami, and the money we're giving to the Red Cross. But we're also having a food/clothes drive and as many organizations do not accept goods, we don't know where to donate the goods. Please email me if you belong to or know about a trustworthy, efficent organization that accepts goods.

I made an above comment about helping to donate goods, I'm the one with the bake sale, and I asked for people to email me if they knew about good organizations, but I realized I didn't give my email address. Its uptowngirlanna92@msn.com

ATTENTION ALL AUSSIES

My name is Dave Brown, based in Sydney. I've been talking to some other folks who are just going to go to Thailand and either hook up with agencies over there or undertake projects off our own bat.

The way we're looking at it, why couldn't a group of people who can be there to help and support one another just go in and build a school house for example. With local advice and assistance naturally, we don't want this to be an exercise in patronage.

So far we have 2 x sparkies, 1 x builder, possibly another bloke with army training in this kind of crisis (who is also a firey). We're looking to be over there around next Tuesday to Thursday.

Does anyone else have some skills they could add to the mix, engineering, medical, even admin skills to assist with keeping track of what we do.

Maybe you'd be interested in co-ordinating things from Australia that might be needed, like tools and building supplies.

We're going over with smiles on our faces, eager to help but not work ourselves into the ground that we can't have an enjoyable BBQ and a couple beers every now and again.

Did i mention we'll be fully self-funded.

email is david@eastelectric.com.au - Ph 0425 254 255

While I hate to sound skeptical, I would STRONGLY caution anyone from sending $MONEY$ directly to anybody posting on these boards. Be very careful that your kindness is not abused....there are sick people around here that will exploit your good will and take your money for themselves. I would only donate to well known humanitarian organizations. Just a word of caution. Be careful, because NOT everyone on this website is telling the truth. Unfortunately, it's true...not everyone is here to help the tsunami victims. Don't be fooled by the wolves in sheeps clothing!
